WOMEN IN LITERATURE

A joint class blog for instructors Sarah Afzal and Paige Wallace

Welcome to the Women in Literature blog for Sarah and Paige's classes.  We're so excited to spend a semester with you guys talking about some of our favorite things. This is the space where we'll all work hard to create community. We're using this blog to strengthen your writing and communication skills. Social media is a huge part of our society and learning how to interact and create meaningful conversation in these spaces is incredibly important.

You guys are seriously so smart.

SERIOUSLY.

Here are some links and things that pertain to the conversations we've had in my section about call out culture, being raced, violence against women, and the #metoo movement. I'm sure these discussion points also pertain to the wonderful discussions happening in Sarah's class, too.

Many of you discussed what it means to call out casual racism especially when you're a person of color. Here's an article about why these moments are especially important.

Some perspectives on call-out culture.

Also, check out all of the resources available through the FSU counseling center

Finally, not so related, but I wanted to share my current favorite meme with you all. I feel like it embodies a kind of feminist discourse similar to the Shine Theory that we discussed earlier in the semester.
